關於室內設計：
室內設計和室內裝飾、室內裝修室內裝飾或裝潢、室內裝修、室內設計，是幾個通常為人們所認同的，但內在含義實際上是有所區別的詞義。

■室內裝飾或裝潢(Interior Ornament Decoration):裝飾和裝潢的原義是指「器物或商品外表」的「修飾」（見《辭海》第4387頁），是著重從外表的、視覺藝術的角度來探討和研究問題。例如對室內地面、牆面、頂棚等各界面的處理，裝飾材料的選用，也可能包括對傢俱、燈具、陳設和小品的選用、配置和設計。

■室內裝修（Interior Finishing）:Finishing 一詞有最終完成的含義，室內裝修著重於工程技術、施工工藝和構造做法等方面，顧名思義主要是指土建工程施工完成之後，對於室內各個界面、門窗、隔斷等最終的裝修工程。

■室內設計（Interior Design）:現代室內設計是綜合的室內環境設計，它包括視覺環境和工程技術方面的問題，也包括聲、光、熱等物理環境以及氛圍、意境等心理環境和文化內涵等內容。在家居裝修中經常聽到"品味"一詞，品味到底是什麼？詞典說，品：評價、衡量。味：旨趣、意義。品味就是品嚐滋味的意思。

家居應該如何裝、如何修、如何飾？體現的自然是品味高低了。低者越看越不順眼， 高者令人過目難忘， 或淡然雅韻或五味俱全都耐人尋味，其高低之間僅在於一線。故此，雅居來自設計師與業主的高境界。設計師和業主之間互相溝通了，設計師能充分理解業主的情操品格、家人喜好、職業習慣，"濃妝淡抹總相宜"的家居設計才能出現。

Interior design involves manipulating the architectural integrity of the interior space as well as the creation of a lifestyle experience through the study of environmental psychology.
